Q: What can I use Level Badger to make a game out of?

A: Level Badger allows you to make a game out of whatever you please, whether it is reading books, writing software documentation, or any other mundane (or perhaps not so mundane!) part of your daily life!

Q: How long will it be before feature X or issue Y gets fixed?

A: We can’t give definite timeframes for any new features or bug fixes because the entire Level Badger team is comprised of volunteers. None of us are getting paid to do this, and as a result, we cannot guarantee that any feature or issue will be fixed at any time.

Q: What do I do if I want to have a badge that can only be awarded by the game administrator and not by the game itself?

A: Because of the way the Badges are modeled, this can be simple. When you create or edit a badge, there is text value that says “Awarded at” next to it. Change this to zero or a negative number, which will mean that the badge can only be handed out by the game administrator by adding it to a user’s inventory. If you do not enter a value to it, it defaults to 1, so it is best you fill it out.

Q: I have a level I want to add in between a large set of already existing levels, do I have to edit or delete all of my existing levels?

A: No, Level Badger reorders your levels for you, so every time you add a level, it is able to sort your levels into the correct order so that you don’t have to edit all of your existing levels.

Q: What folder do I put badge images into to select from?

A: Level Badger currently has a few default badge images, but you can place any of your own badges into this directory;

public/assets/images/badges/

Images don’t have to be square but it might be best if they are. PNG images are preferred but you can use any readable format you please.

Q: What was Level Badger written in?

A: Level Badger was written in Ruby on Rails 3.2.8.

Q: I want to help out! Where can I become part of the Level Badger development team?

A: Link to site and Google Group
